Fueling the Drive towards Sustainability | lone meadow

JL Furnishings (JLF), the flagship indoor furniture line of JLF collections, is one of the earliest pioneers of sustainable manufacturing for hospitality. In 2003, JLF launched an R&D company, lone meadow™, dedicated to the innovation of sustainable practices. lone meadow has since grown to become the “green” think-tank driving sustainability initiatives across all brands within the JLF collections family. Successes to date include:*

HOW SUSTAINABILITY ADDS VALUE FOR THE DESIGN COMMUNITY

The growing trend in today's commercial construction is to make buildings more energy efficient while using low VOC-emitting building materials and products. Many of these properties are qualifying for LEED certification by meeting certain environmental standards. We are beginning to see these incentives take shape specifically for hospitality, restaurant and healthcare products as well.

While designs manufactured at JLF collections bring to mind words like fashionable, sleek, and modern, they are also rooted in sustainability. Indoor furniture made in our USA factories* is:

  • Built with responsibly harvested hardwoods, and/or recycled steel components
  • Finished with water-based stains or lacquers with the lowest VOC emissions in hospitality
  • Manufactured in a facility that meets or exceeds the strict air quality and pollution standards set by California – one of the USA’s most environmentally-responsible states

* Sustainable activities relate solely to in-house manufacturing processes in JL Furnishings’ Los Angeles, California, and Asheboro, North Carolina, factories.
